This Tuxedo kitchen captures the personality and experiences of my clients, who moved here from the East Coast via the Virgin Islands.

 

They were moving toward a simpler lifestyle, but wanted to keep a bit of Back East elegance and refinement, achieved with the raised door style and classic colors. The herringbone backsplash, as well as the art and pops of red, bring in the drama and color of the Caribbean.

Window and doorway openings were enlarged to open up the space to the view outside and adjoining rooms, while balancing storage needs. Because they were downsizing, we focused on making storage and work zones as efficient as possible, planning just the right location for every item they would need.
